Important Notice to all MAWSS Customers Dear Valued Customer, Increases in the costs of materials, power, chemicals and labor require us to raise our charges for water and sewer service, effective February 1, 2009. MAWSS has not had a rate increase since January 2005. The new rate schedule is needed to fund capital projects to meet regulatory requirements and rehabilitate aging infrastructure. The new schedule contains a water and sewer service base fee that reflects administrative costs of $4 per month. Other charges are based on the amount of water used during the monthly billing cycle. Under the new rates, a residential customer using 5,000 gallons of water a month will see an increase in their bill of about $10 per month. Additionally, the minimum water use has been changed from 2,500 to 2,000 gallons. This reduces the charges to residential customers using less than 2,500 gallons per month. Complete rate information, as well as a comparison chart, is available on our website at www.mawss.com, or by calling a MAWSS Customer Service Representative at 694-3100. MAWSS receives no tax revenue and is totally funded by our rate payers. Customers who need assistance because of special circumstances should contact a Customer Service Representative. We appreciate the opportunity to serve you and welcome your comments and suggestions. Sincerely, The Board and Staff of MAWSS Comparison Chart |
