HOW TO SAVE WATER AND MONEY
SINK
- When you're washing or shaving or brushing your teeth, don't
let the water run. Instead, put some water in the sink to use for
washing or shaving; use a cup of water for rinsing after brushing
your teeth.
TOILET
- Flush only when necessary. Don't use your toilet for getting
rid of trash.
SHOWER
- Keep your showers short and use as little water as possible.
Bathe small children together.
WHEN
YOU'RE DRINKING - Keep a container of water in your refrigerator.
That way you can get cold water fast without running your faucet.
WHEN
YOU'RE COOKING - Thaw out frozen food in your refrigerator instead
of using running water. Use only a little amount of water when you're
cooking.
WHEN
YOU'RE WASHING DISHES - Fill up your sink with water to wash
and rinse - don't run your water constantly. Remove the food off
your dishes, but don't rinse them at first. Soak pots and pans in
water before you wash them. Use only a little amount of soap.
WHEN
YOU'RE WASHING CLOTHES - If you've got some really dirty clothes
to clean, soak them before you wash them. Use only a small amount
of soap. Check the load selector on your washer to make sure it
matches the size of your load. If you don't have a load selector,
wash only full loads.
FOR
HEAVY DUTY CLEANING - like grills and oven racks, presoak items
overnight before you attempt to wash them. Use scouring pads to
clean, with as little water as you can.
WHEN
YOU'RE WASHING YOUR CAR - Rinse your car once and turn off the
water. Soap up the car from a bucket of soapy water, then rinse
again. Use as little water as possible.
