Updated Volume Release on Ongoing Wastewater Leak

Mobile Area Water & Sewer System (MAWSS) responded to a wastewater leak on April 17, 2023, from a sewer force main break at 1601 Neshota Dr. The break occurred during construction activities by a third party contractor, working for MAWSS, associated with the installation of the Eslava Creek Sewer Force Main Replacement Project.

The wastewater leak is ongoing. Approximately 4,094,670 million gallons of wastewater have leaked into a tributary to Dog River. The Force main leak has been significantly reduced at this time and is anticipated to be fully abated /contained by next reporting period on 4/21/23.

A MAWSS contractor is working to stop the leak. Additional information will be provided once the leak has stopped.
