- SINK - When you're washing or shaving or brushing your teeth, don't let the water run. Instead, put some water in the sink to use for washing or shaving, use a cup of water for rinsing after brushing your teeth.
- TOILET - Flush only when necessary. Don't use your toilet for getting rid of trash.
- SHOWER - Keep your showers short and use as little water as possible. Bathe small children together.
- WHEN YOU'RE DRINKING - Keep a container of water in your refrigerator. That way you can get cold water fast without running your faucet.
- WHEN YOU'RE COOKING - Thaw out frozen food in your refrigerator instead of using running water. Use only a little amount of water when you're cooking.
- WHEN YOU'RE WASHING DISHES - Fill up your sink with water to wash and rinse - don't run your water constantly. Remove the food off your dishes, but don't rinse them at first. Soak pots and pans in water before you wash them. Use only a little amount of soap.
- WHEN YOU'RE WASHING CLOTHES - If you've got some really dirty clothes to clean, soak them before you wash them. Use only a small amount of soap. Check the load selector on your washer to make sure it matches the size of your load. If you don't have a load selector, wash only full loads.
- FOR HEAVY DUTY CLEANING - like grills and oven racks, presoak items overnight before you attempt to wash them. Use scouring pads to clean, with as little water as you can.
- WHEN YOU'RE WASHING YOUR CAR - Rinse your car once and turn off the water. Soap up the car from a bucket of soapy water, then rinse again. Use as little water as possible.
