Mobile Area Water and Sewer System (MAWSS) announced the Neighbors in Need customer assistance program and pledged to contribute $5000 annually to support the fund. Neighbors in Need encourages customers to make a donation each month when they pay their water and sewer bill to help others in the community who are having difficulty paying. The program is administered through Mobile Community Action Inc. and is based on income eligibility.
Due to temporary or long-term financial difficulties, many families need help paying their water and sewer bills from time to time. Neighbors in Need is designed to keep water flowing for those families. These may be senior citizens on fixed incomes, disabled veterans, single mother with young children, families with unexpected medical expenses or primary wage earners between jobs.
“Life can be difficult without power, gas or phone service, but water is a necessity,” said MAWSS Director Charles Hyland. “We want help to be available to those who need it. This program provides an easy way for each of us to make a difference in someone’s life.”
A donation pledge can be made on your MAWSS water bill or online. For more information, visit www.mawss.com/neighbors.
