Posted on: October 4th, 2017 • News and Advisories

Beginning October 10, contractors for Mobile Area Water and Sewer System (MAWSS) will be performing work at Big Creek Lake Dam that will make it necessary to close one lane of traffic on AL-70 or Tanner Williams RoadLane closures will occur only between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. The specific closure area will include a section of roadway across the Dam extending approximately one-quarter mile east and west. Motorists are urged to watch for changes in the traffic patterns during the course of the approximately three week project.

  • Multiple segments of the East-bound lane within this area will be closed for the entire duration of the project.
  • Flaggers will be in placed on both ends of the closure zone to allow traffic to move through the section (one direction at a time).
  • The limits of the closure zone will shift at times through the duration of the project.  Motorists should be alert for revisions to the closure locations.
  • In certain cases, traffic will be stopped briefly in both directions to allow construction vehicles to maneuver within the work zone.

Motorists are urged to watch for construction workers and equipment, be cautious, and drive slowly through the work zone.
