Mobile Area Water & Sewer System (MAWSS) responded to a wastewater overflow on December 4, 2025 at Baxter St. @ Chateague St. Approximately 900 gallons of wastewater overflowed as the result of a grease blockage. All the wastewater was contained and did not reach State waters. MAWSS crews have cleared the blockage and are taking steps to prevent further overflows at this location. This overflow was reported by a concerned citizen.
Grease blockages occur when foods containing fats, oil or grease are put down the drain. MAWSS provides free containers for grease recycling. To learn more visit www.itseasytobeungreasy.com.
