Mobile Area Water & Sewer System (MAWSS) responded to a wastewater overflow on July 23, 2025 from a manhole at 5725 Old Pascagoula Rd. as a result of heavy grease blockage on the main line. Approximately 300 gallons overflowed; 150 gallons overflowed into Halls Mill Creek. MAWSS crews have unstopped the siphon. Steps will be taken to prevent future overflows at this location.
Grease blockages occur when foods containing fats, oil or grease are put down the drain. MAWSS provides free containers for grease recycling. To learn more visit www.itseasytobeungreasy.com.
