Mobile, AL—Mobile Area Water & Sewer System (MAWSS) found evidence of a wastewater overflow on May 27, 2026, near the intersection of McVay Dr. @ Navco Rd. that resulted from heavy rainfall. The wastewater overflow was not active at the time the evidence was discovered and overflowed into Eslava Creek.
MAWSS sewer system is designed to collect and convey wastewater to a MAWSS wastewater treatment plant. During heavy rains, storm water infiltrates and inundates aging sewer lines causing manholes to overflow. Health department precautions regarding contact with impacted waters and seafood preparation should be followed.
