Understanding the Value of Water
MAWSS provides safe drinking water and sanitary sewer service for more than 200,000 people in the Mobile metropolitan area.
The Citizens Water Academy (CWA) educates participants on the quality of Mobile’s water source (Big Creek Lake), our ability to meet the need for water in our community, as well as how our systems are built and maintained.
To protect this valuable resource from encroaching development, MAWSS owns and manages 9,000 acres of land surrounding the Lake to act as a buffer.
During emergency situations, monitor broadcast media for important information regarding the water supply.
