Mobile, AL – Mobile Area Water & Sewer System will flush fire hydrants in parts of West Mobile beginning Monday, April 3, 2023 through the end of May. Hydrant flushing is performed for maintenance purposes to remove sediment from pipes in order to maintain clarity and quality in the distribution pipes.
If you notice discolored water after flushing, turn on several cold water taps in your home to allow new water to work its way into your pipes. Let the water run for several minutes until the discoloration is gone and the water runs clear. In some infrequent cases, customers may experience slight discoloration for a few hours. This discoloration only affects the appearance of the water; it does not affect the water quality or taste. If discoloration continues, please contact our customer care team at (251) 694-6135.
