HYDRANT FLUSHING IN WEST MOBILE
April 30, 2025-The Mobile Area Water & Sewer System (MAWSS) will conduct routine hydrant flushing in your area to ensure the continued quality and safety of the water supply. This will take place over the next several weeks. During flushing, you may experience temporary water discoloration or pressure drop. This is a regular occurrence. If you notice any discoloration in your water, we recommend turning on the faucet and letting the cold water run for a few minutes until the water is clear, and waiting to wash white or light colored laundry. If you have any questions or concerns about the hydrant flushing process, please get in touch with us at (251) 694-3165.
While flushing hydrants may seem like a waste of clean water, it is essential to keeping water safe and mainitaining the integrity of a pipe network. Hydrants can be flushed to test the fire flow capacity in the event of a fire and to remove sediment and rust from the water.
